Stats: List Of Five Indian Players Who Conceded Most Runs In 3-Match ODI Series!

Modern cricket has witnessed some brilliant display of bat and ball contest. A case in point is the recently concluded three-match series saw 2,090 runs shared between India-England which was spread over six innings as bowlers were taken to the cleaners on a featherbed or an otherwise which is not less than a nightmare for a seamer and a spinner.

When it’s not your day even the best in business go wicket-less. The list also includes one of the best spinners.

Have a look at the list of five players from India who have conceded most run in a three-match series.

5 – R Ashwin – 169 Ind Vs SA 2013 Series (In South Africa)

Best at home, Ravichandran Ashwin during the South Africa series conceded 58 runs in 10 overs which saw seven boundaries being scored of his bowling in the opening game. India eventually lost the game by 141 runs as they were able to score 217 in response to Proteas 358.

Ashwin returned to pick a wicket in the second game after giving away 48 runs in nine overs before batting order collapsed on 146 to lose the game by 134 runs.

After South Africa set the target of 302 for India with Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers notching the centuries, rain did not allow India to bat which saw the three-match result 2-0 in favour of the hosts.

Ashwin was again at the receiving end being targeted by Proteas top-order batsman. Ashwin sent down nine overs to concede 63 runs at an economy of seven.

In his three-match series he has conceded 169 runs. He could pick only wicket in the series.

4 – M Shami – 185 Ind vs SA 2013 series (In South Africa)

Mohammad Shami, who has bowled well recently for India while backing on his subtle variations, has also been hit for the runs.

During the first match at Johannesburg he picked three wickets in the first game after bowling 10 overs while giving away 68 runs. He has also given four boundaries and four sixes.

While coming to the Durban, Shami again picked three wickets for his side while allowing Proteas to score run-a-ball in his eight overs. South Africa in the game scored 280 runs.

Shami again picked three wickets in his 10 overs after giving 69 runs at an economy of 6.90 which also saw six boundaries and three sixes.

He has conceded 185 runs to pick nine wickets in the series.

 

 

3 – R Ashwin – 188 Ind v Eng 2017 series

It has not been the good series for the Indian off-spinner Ravichandaran Ashwin who went wicket-less in the first match at Pune where he conceded 63 runs at an economy of 7.87 in eight overs.

In the second match, Ashwin, who looked off-colour in the series opener picked three wickets by giving away 65 runs in his quota of 10 overs while conceding three sixes and three boundaries respectively.

Having the tinge of green, Eden Gardens turf was tailor-made for the bowlers, but batters equally on the task played some fine strokes to see both the sides cross 300-mark with ease.

Under the floodlights, the pace and bounce has made India batters struggle in the middle. Ashwin was again at the receiving end to go wicket-less in his nine overs. He has conceded 60 runs an economy of 6.66.

Ashwin picked three wickets during the series.

2 – S Sreesanth – 206 SA vs Ind 2010 Series

In the first ODI match against South at Jaipur, S Sreesanth has been taken to the cleaners after conceding 74 runs in his nine overs. He picked two wickets while being smashed for 10 fours and one six.

In the 2nd ODI at Gwalior, India batted first to amass 401 runs with former legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar becoming first cricketer to score double century in the cricketing history. He scored 200 off 147 balls which included 25 fours and three sixes at the strike-rate of 136.05

Sreesanth bowled seven overs to concede 49 runs at an economy of seven which saw nine boundaries. India eventually won the game by 153 runs after South Africa was bundled out on 248.

Sreesanth picked three wickets in the match that included Hashim Amla, Roelof van der Merwe and Dale Steyn

In the third One-dayer at Ahmedabad, Sreesanth, who gone wicket-less, was expensive which saw him giving away 83 runs in nine overs at an economy of 9.22. He conceded eight boundaries and four sixes.

Sreesanth bagged five wickets in the series after giving away 206 runs.

 

1 – Jasprit Bumrah – 228 India Vs England 2017

Tourted as the best bowler in Twenty20 cricket, Jasprit Bumrah, the right-arm bowler played the first match of the three-match series against England while trying everything hard before bowling the full quota of ten overs to give away 79 runs at an economy of 7.90 in which he picked 2 wickets.

He was smashed for five fours and four sixes. The 23-year-old Bumrah picked the wicket of a top-order batsman Joe Root and all-rounder Ben Stokes.

In the second ODI at Cuttack, proving to be the featherbed for batters, the Ahmedabad born Bumrah conceded 81 runs in nine overs at an economy of nine while picking the wickets of Alex Hales and Chris Woakes. He conceded 14 boundaries and a six during the game which saw both teams scoring 747 runs.

In the third ODI at Eden Gardens, Bumrah has picked the only wicket of Moeen Ali on the short delivery which has struggled the latter in the recent past.

However, the groundstaff expected a low-scoring game which saw both the sides scoring 300 plus runs to see the crowd on feet.

Bumrah with his orthodox action send down 10 overs to give away 68 runs at an economy of 6.80. He has given away six boundaries and two series

After the conclusion of the series Bumrah conceded 228 runs to claim five wickets.

Bumrah is the second in the list to concede more runs in a three-match series or less after Zimbabwe’s Shingirai Masakadza, who conceded 244 runs against South Africa in 2010-11.
