India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the third ODI at Hyderabad and took an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five match ODI series. Some records were created in the ODI. Here is the list of all the records and stats that were created in the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has never won a billateral series against India in India.


Virat Kohli is the fastest batsman to reach 6000 runs in ODIs. He achieved this land mard in 136 innings. He surpasses West Indies’ Viv Richards to become the new number 1 in the list.


Shikhar Dhawan became the fifth fastest to reach 2000 runs in ODIs. He has achieved this in 28 innings and is behind Hashim Amla, Zaheer Abbas, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott in the list.


Mahela Jayawardene became the fifth batsman and third Sri Lankan to cross 12000runs in ODI’s. The other four batsmen are India’s Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya and Kumar Sangakkara.


Umesh Yadav achieved his career best ODI figures of 4-53. His previous best was 3-32 against West Indies at Port of Spain.


Akshar Patel too produced his best bowling performance in ODIs, 3-30, surpassing the two for 24 vs Sri Lanka at Cuttack.


Virat Kohli, with 849 runs in 2014 is the leading run scorer in ODIs this year. Sri Lankan captain Angelo Matthews is just one run short of Kohli.


This is the 4th instance of Kumar Sangakkara getting out for a Golden duck in ODI cricket. Among those 4, he has got out twice against India and once each against New Zealand and Pakistan.


India has posted 17 fifty plus opening partnership in ODI’s in the last couple of years. This is more than any other team in the period.


Mahela Jayawardene has scored his fourth ODI hundred in India, the most by any Sri Lankan. Only Ricky Ponting and Chris Gayle has scored more than him.
