Stats: Teams with most ODI fifties

Virat has found his name with an interesting record while playing a knock of 77 against South Africa at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot which has gone in vain as the visitor registered an 18 run victory over India. He hit the 1000th ODI fifty for India. With this half century, India has become the second country to reach 1000the fifty after Australia.

Virat Kohli played a crucial innings was not enough to salvage India’s fortune in the match as South Africa defeated India by 22 runs.

Among the Indian batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar has the highest number of ODI fifty as the master batsman hit 96 fifties in 50 over cricket.
Two Indian batsmen hit half-centuries. Opener Rohit Sharma scored 65, which was the 999th fifty for India.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, who was reverted to his actual position no. 3 for the first time in this ODI series, back in the mojo after the failure of 13 consecutive innings. Virat scored his last ODI hundred in India’s World Cup campaign starter against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground, (MCG).

 

However, South Africa, who set a target of 270 for India. India, but even after getting a prolific start while chasing the target lost the momentum in the middle of the innings. Opener Shikhar Dhawan once again failed to convert his innings into a big innings after getting his gun. Rohit Sharma, although, is in good form, scored 65.

India’s innings derailed when Morne Morkel took the most important wicket of MS Dhoni. With the bat Quinton de Kock scored 103 and with the ball in hand Morne Morkel did a good job for South Africa. Morkel took the wicket four wickets- Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane that dashed India’s hope in the match.
