Stats: Top 5 Players With Most Fifties In ICC Champions Trophy

ICC Champions Trophy is one of the most coveted tournaments in cricket as it is played among the best of the cricket playing nations once in every four years.

Also dubbed as mini world cup, all the participating teams give their best and have always featured the best talent in the world since its inception in the late 1990s. The likes of Australia and India have managed to win it twice in the last seven editions and the tournament has so far seen six different winners.

The 2017 edition will yet again see eight best teams clashing against each other in the major event in England as they look to take the prized trophy back to their home. Bangladesh is set to make their debut into the tournament for the first time as they growing on a consistent basis in the ODI format.

Champions Trophy has proved to be the stage for some stellar knocks and incredible spells over the decades and here we look at the players who have to manage to score most fifties in the tournament’s history.

#5. Ricky Ponting- 4

The Australian right-handed batsman has managed to notch 4 fifties in the tournament as he has played part in four editions of the tournament.

One of the greatest players to ever play for Sri Lanka, Mahela Jayawardene has done it all for his nation as he was a consistent run-getter for the country in all the major ICC events.

However, his incredible career has not seen Sri Lanka win an ICC trophy in 50 over format as the men from the island nation have failed in the finals of both 2007 and 2011 World Cups. The elegant right-hander has always been the go-to man for Sri Lanka and has hardly failed to deliver.
