Team India skipper Virat Kohli has been in exceptional form across all 3 formats of the game and after already breaking many records in his relatively young international career so far Kohli went on to make yet another record his own during the opening day of the 3rd and the final Test against Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi. Kohli became the first Test captain to score three centuries in a 3 Test series.
He started on from where he left in the previous Test at the VCA stadium in Nagpur and smashed his 20th Test century of his career. He has been in the form of his life, and his exceptional scores off late have been just testimony to his greatness. Following a rare failure in the 1st innings of the Kolkata Test where he was trapped in front by a good delivery from Suranga Lakmal.
He came back strongly in the 2nd innings to smash a brilliant counter-attacking century which was the difference between a dull draw and a fascinating final day which saw India almost pulling off a sensational come from behind victory. He continued his form even in the 2nd Test and went on to smash his 5th Test double century and is just 2nd in the list of leading double century-makers from India. Sachin Tendulkar heads the list along with Virender Sehwag with 12 double tons.
From the very first ball onwards Kohli looked in sensational touch. He drove to perfection and was equally efficient through the square of the wicket and the leg side region. He brought up yet another century with utmost ease and looked in no discomfort what so ever. There hasn’t been a single bowler who has troubled the Indian star batsmen in home conditions, but his real test will be when India travels South Africa later in the month.
