Stats: Younis Khan tops the list of centurion batsmen in the 4th innings of a Test match

  • Younis Khan becomes the leading batsman to score highest number of centuries in the 4th innings of a Test match.

He achieved this feat after scoring a thumping knock in the 3rd and decisive Test match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele, which was his 30th Test century and fifth in the 4th innings of a Test match. He scored 171 in the 4th innings of the match, and along with newbie Shan Masood stabilized the Pakistan innings and ensured their first Test series win in the island nation after 2006. Pakistan bagged the series 2-1 , coming back strongly after losing the previous Test in Colombo.

Younis surpassed players like Sunil Gavaskar, Ricky Ponting, Graeme Smith and Ram Naresh Sarwan all of whom had four centuries in the 4th innings of Tests.

This is another feather in the cap for the 37 year old Pakistan batsman who have been playing 16 years for his national side.
