‘Steve Smith Will Rely On MS Dhoni For Tactical Input Throughout The Game’

Newly-appointed Rising Pune Supergiant skipper Steve Smith might have said he wants to lead the team in his own style, but his father claimed that Smith will heavily rely on former India captain MS Dhoni for the tactical inputs in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.
“I have plenty of guys to talk to, but I will not seek too many opinions. Seeking too many opinions can cloud your own judgement. I want to try and stay as clear as possible. But yes, if someone sees something and feels the need to point it out to me, they are more than welcome.”
However, Smith’s father, Peter Smith, feels his son will be relying on his senior teammates especially Dhoni while leading the star-studded team.
“MS Dhoni has a vast wealth of experience in the IPL and international cricket. I am sure he will be one of the senior players on whom Steven will rely for tactical input throughout the game.”
“It is a great privilege to be asked to captain any side. The Supergiants franchise has a number of good international and Indian players and it would be very exciting to have the opportunity to lead them,” senior Smith added.
He further declined to comment on the franchise’s decision to replace Dhoni with Smith as the skipper of the team.
“The decision to replace MS Dhoni with Steven is one made by the franchise owners and not a decision on which I should comment,” he said.
The Rising Pune Supergiant will begin their campaign against Maharashtra rivals Mumbai Indians in Pune, on March 6.
