The Hero for England on the first day of the 4th test at Old Trafford, Manchester, Stuart Broad has confirmed that he will undergo a knee surgery just after the conclusion of the 5-match test series against India. The pacer is presently on of the deadly bowlers of England and is a part of the destructive pace duo alongside James Anderson.
He stated of the fact that he will be having an operation but the timing for that has not yet been confirmed. His doctor will fly to England from Sweden just after the Oval Test. He thinks that it might be after the test or the ODI series.
Recently Broad is running through a prime form and he clinched 6 of the Indian wickets in the first innings with a bang. With the aid of his great swing bowling, Indians were bundled for a score of 152 runs.
But physically he is not upto his cent percent level of fitness and has been in trouble with his knee for quite some time now. He wishes to utilize the time gap after the Oval test for the surgery of his knee.
He said that he has been suffering from knee injury for the past 18 months or so and he feels that the operation needs to be done at this point of time. But the point of concern for ECB in this matter is if the pacer goes for surgery after the final test, he is to miss the ODI series against India which will be starting from August, 25th.
But Broad seems to be in more concern for the ICC World Cup which is going to be held next year from February, 14th. He also pointed that if he does his operation at the present then he will have time of about 3 to 4 months to condition himself for the World Cup and it will be perfect for him.
With the six-wicket haul against India in the first day of the fourth test against India, helped Broad to move to 261 wickets and with that he is in the sixth place of England’s all-time list of most successful bowlers. Meanwhile, after having in the nick of taking regular wickets, Anderson has 374 test wickets by his name and he is just 9 wickets away from England’s leading wicket-taker, Ian Botham.
Broad is pretty much excited about his bowling partner and he stated that he wants to see Anderson getting into the 400-wickets club and he will then become the first English bowler to reach to that feat.
