‘Superman’ Is Back; Ab de Villiers Hammers Unbeaten 134 On Return!

One of cricket’s most decorated batsman across formats, Ab de Villiers has announced his return to cricket, after registering an unbeaten 134 for Northerns against Easterns during the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on Sunday. His knock came a couple of days prior to South Africa’s third T20 against Sri Lanka, where he is likely to make the XI.
The batsman, who last played in July 2016, earlier in an interview said he isn’t sure about playing few shots with the same preciseness as he did in past, but looking at the numbers he registered, he just seemed to be more modest about his game.
De Villiers suffered an injury in his elbow during CPL last year and came out with some good numbers to back his selection.
Even realising the relatively lower standard of the match, the Proteas batting masterclass was sent at number three position by his side, giving him more balls to play and allowing him to settle in. The decision helped his cause, as he whacked 19 boundaries and three sixes in his innings of 134* of 103 balls.
Amidst his retirement rumors early on, de Villiers came out with his thought saying he is looking forward to prolong his career but would keep himself out of England Test series later this year.
