The 3 match ODI series between India Vs. Bangladesh starts on June 15th in Bangladesh. Indian skipper MS Dhoni and other first line players have been rested for the tournament and it is Suresh Raina who has been appointed as the standing captain for the Indian Team for its tour to Bangladesh. He recently, in an interview to The Telegraph that the new looking India squad are confident to make their mark in Bangladesh and are pretty much hopeful about that.

The trump cards for India in the likes of Kohli and Dhoni have been rested for the tournament keeping in mind of the hectic schedule to follow after the Bangladesh tour. India has sent a young team to Bangladesh and Raina seems to be in confident mood and is hopeful for success.

India team landed in Kolkata on Thursday evening and Raina spoke to the telegraph then. Suresh Raina said, “Koi pressure nahin… Enjoy karenge…(no pressure at all, we wll enjoy) It’s an excellent opportunity for all the players.” These words from Raina do speaks of his confidence and his belief in the fresh and inexperienced squad.

“I intend doing a bit of gym,” Raina spoke to Telegraph after his delayed flight from New Zealand and on the way from airport, getting stuck in a traffic jam. Raina also claimed to meet the pride of Kolkata and former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly while in the city. In addition to that, Raina stated that the former captain and left-handed batsmen helped him in his batting prior to the ICC World T20 this year.

The standing captain said that he is excited to captain the national team comprising of bunch of young talents in the likes of Akshar Patel, Mohit Sharma and others. Also, Robin Uthappa, the 28-year old sensational opener of KKR has made his mark in the national team after a span of 6 long years and Raina is hopeful that Uthappa will be a key for India in the tournament.

As a matter of fact, Suresh Raina was not included in India’s last ODI tournament i.e the Asia Cup. But he did hit a purple patch in this IPL season, scoring 523 runs in 16 matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The best of the trot was in the last match which was the qualifier against Kings XI Punjab, where chasing a 200+ target, Raina hit a blistering knock of 87 runs off just 25 balls at Wankhede Stadium but the knock went on a losing cause unfortunately. His such impressive performances did impress the selectors and he was included in India’s squad for Bangladesh tour. And he being one of the most experienced members of the squad with leadership experiences, was appointed as the captain for the tour. He would be hoping to continue his good run against Bangladesh in the upcoming week.

After the stunning IPL performances for CSK, Suresh Raina took a much needed break and headed north with his family. “We travelled across Kashmir and even visited the LOC… I needed time off and it has refreshed me.”, he said to The Telegraph.

On a note for the secret for success the ODIs, the 27-year-old standing skipper believes success lies in the attitude. “Playing with commitment, being disciplined and playing with passion… Josh rehna zaroori hai,” he said quite assertfully.

Raina has past experiences of captaining India. He has captained the side once for a tri-series in Zimbabwe in 2010, and then in 2011 against West Indies in the Caribbean. He said he’s “looking forward” to working closely with coach Duncan Fletcher, who was appointed the Indian coach back in 2011 against West Indies and Raina captained in that series.

Wishing India team success in Bangladesh and lets hope to see some young talents come up with golden colours.
