Suresh Raina, who recently made a comeback to the Indian team for the T20I series against England, has pulled out of the Inter-Zonal Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2017. The reason for the same is yet to be known.
Raina was appointed as the skipper of the Central Zone for the newly introduced T20 league. Naman Ojha, who last played a Test for India in 2015 against Sri Lanka, led the team in the first game.
With no white-ball cricket before Champions Trophy, the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy and Indian Premier League (IPL) will be the only opportunity for Raina to present his case and impress selectors for CT, where the Indian team will go in as defending champions.
