Karnataka topped the South Zone of the T20 league by defeating Goa in the final league game by a big margin of six wickets with 50 balls to spare. After being asked to bowl first, Karnataka had a decent start as they scalped two wickets of Goa on first 42 balls of the game, with exactly same number of runs on the board.
Soon after the completion of the first half of Goa innings, the batting line suffered a slump and starts losing quick wickets. They were five down with a score of 80.
The upcoming batting line-up stood up against strong Karnataka bowling line up and somehow dragged the score past hundred, posting 120 on the board.
Surprisingly, it was skipper R Vinay Kumar who came along with Mayank Agarwal to open the innings. Agarwal was the first one to go back with a score of just 11. K Gowtham along with his skipper helped the team cross the 50 run mark before getting dismissed.
At one stage, Karnataka too lost two early wickets and there might have been the case when we could have seen a repeat of the first innings but Pavan Deshpande smacked 32 runs off just 13 deliveries, to lead Karnataka to a win, helping his team to top the South Zone league.
Karnataka 121/4 defeats Goa 120/7 by Six wickets at Chennai.
