Former Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar said that it was not a poor advertisement for cricket if a Test match finishes inside three days and such results are coming more since the players lack the patience to survive five days.

India defeated South Africa by 108 runs in the first Test match at Mohali little before the end of the third day. Getting a result in a Test match is actually a good advertisement. The host association, the Tv fans want the match to go into the 5th day. But it is not happening in India only. In Australia, matches finish early.

The patience required to play five days is not there in the players anymore. The legendary opener said that it will be a foolish thing to write South African team in the remainder of the series. The South African team is resourceful side. They will try to work on their weakness.   The only thing is to change their batting order. AB De Villiers should come at number 4 and Faf Du Plessis should come at number 5.

Talking about the man of the match Ravindra Jadeja, Gavaskar said it was a smart decision by the Indian team management to include him in the side.

It was a sensible decision. He was hitting the deck and not just fighting the ball like Ashwin. He hit the right line and length and was rewarded.

He said that the Indian batsmen need to work on the footwork to score some huge runs.
