There Will be No Other Yuvraj Singh – Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh, the India offspinner and the childhood friend of Yuvraj Singh, has backed his long time mate and has said there will be no player like Yuvraj Singh.

Harbhajan Singh was speaking on a TV show where he was asked about Yuvraj Singh, to which Harbhajan replied by heaping praises on his statemate,

“Nobody has won as many matches for India as Yuvraj has and that’s why I was a bit surprised to see him being dropped from the squad for Sri Lanka but I am sure the selectors thought well and had something in mind. I am not sure if he is rested or dropped…only time will tell Yuvraj Singh is undoubtedly a champion player and has made a lot of comebacks in the last couple of years and I can tell you that no matter how big a player India produces, there will not be another Yuvraj Singh,” Harbhajan Singh told India today.

It’s pertinent to know Yuvraj is a star player but with Indian selectors now laying extra stress on the fitness of players, it remains a fact he now does not match that desired standards.

In addition to that, his recent form has also not been quite good enough to let him continue his place in the team in place of regulars. The main reason for him dropping was the comeback of regular players and in addition to that, as said, Yuvraj also did not have enough numbers to sustain his place in the team.

Though the Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad created a sensation when he said that Yuvraj has been rested and not dropped. His comments have come as a surprise because even before the start of selection meeting, it was clearly visible that Yuvraj won’t be considered, as he did not do well in the Champions Trophy and Windies series, the only thing which could have helped him have a longer run after his comeback to the ODI squad after a period of three years.

Still, with MSK Prasad using the word rested for Yuvraj, it has come as a boon for the all-rounder, as this means that selectors are still looking towards him as a prospect for future.
