This day in IPL history – 27th April

2008: The match between Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers saw one of the biggest win in terms of wickets and also balls remaining in IPL. MI set a target of 155 for DC to achieve. DC openers, Adam Gilchrist and VVS Laxman were in no mood to give any chance to the MI bowlers. Gilchrist took the attack and scored 109* of just 47 balls and Laxman scored 37 off 26 balls, guiding DC to a 10 wicket win with 48 balls remaining.

2009: In 2008 MI lost badly to DC, this year it was the turn of MI to register a big win on the same very day. Batting first MI scored 187 against KKR and in reply KKR were bowled out for 95 runs in 15.2 overs. MI won the match by 92 runs.

2011: DC faced Kochi Tuskers Kerala on this day and what a day it turned out to be for the DC bowlers. Batting first DC set a target of 130 for Team Kochi to achieve. As the DC team began to bowl, Ishanth Sharma destroyed the batting line up of KTK team. He took 5 wickets 3 overs, giving away just 12 runs. KTK registered their lowest total, i.e. 74.

It will be interesting to see if this years match between Delhi Daredevil vs. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Superkings can make it to the history books.
