IPL was set to change the way players would approach T20 cricket, but no one expected it to happen so fast. It was just the 8th match of IPL season 1 and we saw a 200+ score again. CSK came into bat against MI and scored a mighty 208 runs, thanks to impressive run hitting by Matthew Hayden who score 81 off 46 balls. Coming in to bat MI didn’t give up so easily. They fought back hard but could only manage to reach 202 by the end of 20 over’s.
Scoring a century just got easier year by year in IPL. This time it was the turn of Mr. Cricket to do so. Playing DD against CSK, AB de Villiers scored 105 off 54 balls with 5 boundaries and 6 sixes. When CSK came down to bat, they could only manage 180 losing the match by 9 runs.
This date again proved to be a high scoring match as it was the turn of DD to display their hard hitting. Both David Warner and Sehwag scored 77 each off 48 and 35 balls respectively. In all DD scored 231. When Kings XI came into bat Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh displayed their class but 231 was too huge a target to achieve. DD won the match by 29 runs.
After reading this you would definitely want to go back to the history books. This was the very day when Chris Gayle tore apart the Pune Warriors bowling attack. Gayle scored 175 off 66 balls which had 13 boundaries and 17 sixes. In all RCB scored 263 runs which broke many records. Coming into bat Pune managed only 133 runs and lost by 130 runs.
This day has proven to be a high scoring day most of the times. It will be interesting to see if this year’s match between CSK and RR can make it to the history books.
