Rahul Dravid, the former Indian captain and batting legend, has opined that Indian bowlers rise to the occasion in England. They can do so by taking advantage of seam friendly conditions, team India can compete in England. Dravid admitted that it is difficult to compete in 5 test series, although he also added that India has got potential. 

He said, “It is going to be a challenging series no doubt. Five Tests are never easy. I believe India have got a pretty good side from what I saw in South Africa and New Zealand. They came pretty close to winning Tests in Johannesburg and then in New Zealand. They had their chances but couldn’t grab them. It is now a good time to make that jump. If they do that and win a couple of Tests they will get the confidence.”

Emphasizing on the ability to take 20 wickets, he stressed, “They are a competitive side in their conditions even if some of their senior batsmen aren’t there. It is a challenge to get 20 wickets. I saw Sri Lanka not getting 20 wickets. It is big challenge for subcontinent teams in England.”

Underlining the possibilities for Ishant Sharma’s revival, he said, “India have to find someone to get wickets. It is a young bowling attack and anyone can step up. Ishant has the experience. It is time for him to say, look I will lead the attack in the absence of Zaheer (Khan). Spinners do come into play on the fourth and fifth day in England. It will be fantastic if both the spinners R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja play depending on the conditions.”
