No points in guessing as to which bowler tops the list of Indian bowlers with most number of International bowlers. But the names after which is something we wouldn’t be very sure of. Lately, another bowler has completed 300 wickets and is also the only bowler in the current Indian test squad to be featured in this list.

Another point that one would notice after taking a look at this list is that no Indian bowler has been able to reach the 1000 wickets mark, though very just two bowlers in the world have reached that landmark so far.

Let us take a look at list of Indian bowlers with most number of International wickets:

BBI: Best Bowling in an innings
Stats include matches played only for India and not other teams like Asia XI etc.

Anil Kumble tops the list of highest wicket-takers with 953 wickets in his international career. Most of us would have wanted him to complete 1000 International wickets but his thumb injury had forced him to retire before reaching the milestone that only 2 other bowlers have reached so far.

Ishanth Sharma is the latest entrant into the 300 club as he grabbed two wickets in the 2nd innings of the ongoing Boxing Day test match against Australia. Both Ishanth Sharma and Irfan Pathan have played 195 innings and have 301 wickets each but soon we would see the taller bowler race ahead as Irfan is struggling to make a comeback in the team. Whereas Ishanth is the only bowler from the current Indian squad to be featured in this list.

Harbhajan Singh would consider himself as he has been dropped from the Indian team for a long time and is just few wickets short of 700 wickets. This would have made him 2 Indian and 11th player in the world to take 700 or more wickets. Though everything isn’t lost for Bhajji as a phenomenal performance in the domestic season can still win him a berth in the team.
