Cricket is a team sport and the teams which play well as a unit often end up winning the contest. Rarely we see teams with few individuals’ brilliance win tournaments. Here, we look at the top 10 teams that have won the most international matches in cricket history.

10. Bangladesh – 125 wins

The nation that is overcoming the status of minnows, Bangladesh is an ever growing cricketing nation who are only getting better with years passing on. The tigers would surely move up the chart in the coming years with the quality of cricket they are playing at the moment. They managed 125 wins out of 467 matches they played so far.

9. Zimbabwe – 145 wins

Considered the minnow test playing team at the moment, Zimbabwe have seen their cricket decline sharply over the last 15 years. The African nation have managed to win 145 matches in 619 matches they played so far.

8. New Zealand – 440 wins

Often considered the dark horses of the cricket, New Zealand were never estimated as they proven doubters wrong time and again. Their cricket is growing fast at the moment as they are making good progress over the last few months. The Kiwis have managed 440 wins out of 1204 matches they have played on the international stage.

7. Sri Lanka – 483 wins

Not a surprise! Considering they have started playing late than many other heavyweights of the game. The island nation have made a name for themselves with their stellar performances since the late 1990s. They have managed 483 wins from 1097 games they played in all formats.

6. South Africa – 540 wins

South Africa have been playing great cricket since their re-entry into the game in 1991 as they managed to dominate every format yet failing to win a major trophy despite their dominance over the last decade. The Proteas have managed 540 wins in their 1045 international matches.

5. West Indies- 576 wins

The West Indies have dominated the game for over three decades but had seen a steady decline despite have some brilliant individual players down the years. The Caribbeans have managed to win 576 matches in their 1326 international games so far.

4. India – 622 wins

One of the finest nations to ever play cricket, India have managed to grow the quality of their cricket they play over the years. They have produced some of the finest cricket legends down the years. India have managed to win 622 games out of 1464 international games they played so far.

3. Pakistan – 638 wins

Pakistan as a cricketing nation has grown tremendously over the years but they started dominating the game since the late 80s and have been a devastating force till early 00s. They have produced some of the very best fast bowlers in the game. Pakistan have managed to win 638 games out of 1358 games.

2. England- 709 wins

The inventors of the game, England feature as No.2 in this list. They have been playing cricket for over 139 years and it is not a surprise to see them at the top in this list. The English have managed to win 709 games out of 1723 games they played in their history.

1. Australia – 955 wins

Heads and shoulders above all, Australia have dominated the game since its inception producing the likes of Don Bradman, Steve Waugh, Ricky Ponting and many others over the years making them aside to fear despite the eras cricket has seen. The Aussies have managed an impressive 955 matches in their 1748 international matches.
