So, we at SPORTZWIKI, decided to dig into the past, and bring to you the Top 5 Funniest moments in IPL history. Go ahead. Have a nice laugh!
5. Rudi Koertzen’s funny decline of Ashok Dinda’s appeal.
When it comes to the cricket field, the Umpires are Gods. The men who matter. The men who call the shots and make the difference. The slient spectators with a keen eye on the game, they can sway the tide of the match with a shake of the head or lifting of the finger. Ask Ashok Dinda about how it felt being trolled by an umpire! Yes, trolled. Rudi Koertzen appeared to be convinced that Virender Sehwag had nicked behind to the keeper off a Dinda delivery, but just as he was about to raise his finger, he strikes a dashing pose in a suave manner and puts his finger in his pocket. That’s one moment which made us LOL.
4. Chris Gayle’s Gangnam Style dance.
Chris Gayle certainly knows how to keep the crowd entertained – not just with his huge sixes, but with his dance moves on the cricket field. Undoubtedly the most entertaining bloke in the IPL over the last few seasons, Gayle’s uninhibited nature and his charisma has struck a chord with the Indian masses. And he showed that he is well-versed with the on-going trends around the world as he breaks into the popular Gangnam style jig every time he took a wicket.
3. Playing Fetch?
We have often seen pigeons, crows and ducks grab the best seats on the cricket field and disrupt the cricket, but watching a dog amicably prancing around not caring one bit about the fact that there is a cricket match going on is one funny sight to behold! And don’t dogs just love playing fetch in an open field and garnering people’s attention? Well, that was exactly what this dog did when he interrupted the IPL II encounter between CSK and MI.
2. Shadab Jakati – butter fingers, anyone?
Shadab Jakati must have had too much Butter Chicken before the match, or he must have slept off when the tutorials on how to run out a batsman were given out. It is most likely the first case, as Jakati manages to mess up the run out chance, not once but thrice. So, if you’re a young cricketer aiming to make it big in the game, that’s your first lesson kids! No Butter Chicken before coming on to the field!
1. Bollinger and Bravo’s Tamil dance!
After defending their title successfully on home turf in 2011 beating Royal Challengers Bangalore, Doug Bollinger and Dwayne Bravo get groovy as they dance vehemently to some Tamil drum beats. Talk about having a blast. Nice to see cricket transcend the barriers of language, culture as well as geographical barriers.
