The Indian Premier League is the best domestic T20 league in the world at the moment as star players from around the world are involved in a 40-day long tournament that brings out the best in every player.
Over the years, there have been some exciting matches and close contests between the bat and the ball but at times there has been utter domination, more often the bat on the ball.
This has seen even the best of the best in the sports struggle in this competition as batsmen nowadays have found new and new ways to hurt the bowlers.
There have been a number of insane batting performances that took bowlers apart and with not too long left for the IPL to start, let’s relive a few of those moments.
Here are the bowlers who have conceded the most runs in an over in the history of the IPL:
Ishant Sharma – 0/66 (SRH vs CSK):
Back in 2013 when the Sunrisers were struggling at the bottom of the table, not much was going right for them with the bat or the ball. Playing the Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad, SRH fell to a 66 run loss on the night as Michael Hussey and Suresh Raina got stuck into the SRH bowlers. Sharma ended up conceding 66 runs in his four overs and gave the Kings a comfortable victory. This remains the most expensive spell in the history of the competition till date.
Umesh Yadav – 0/65 (DD vs RCB):
The current striker force of the Indian bowling attack are both on the list in the top-2. Yadav, who has been impressive against Australia recently got a pasting of his lifetime at the Feroz Shah Kotla in 2013 when Virat Kohli’s 99 (58) lifted RCB to 183 on the night. DD, though struggled to get there, felt short of just 4 runs leaving Yadav embarrassed with his bowling spell.
Sandeep Sharma – 1/65 (KIXP vs SRH):
A fringe domestic medium pacer from India, Sandeep Sharma has been impressive at times but he was deposited all over the place at the RGICS in Hyderabad in May 2014 by a Warner, Dhawan and Naman Ojha as the homes side set them a target of 205. Though the visitors came back to win the game in grand fashion, Sandeep’s spell remains one of the most expensive in IPL history.
Varun Aaron – 2/63 (DD vs CSK):
One of the quickest bowlers in the domestic circuit in India, Aaron has not been the best bowler in the T20 format. He is often sporadic as he was in the game against CSK back in 2012 where Murali Vijay’s 113 (58) took his side past the 200 mark in the first innings. DD were all out for less than 150 giving CSK a thumping victory, adding insult to injury to Aaron.
Ashoke Dinda – 0/63 (PW vs MI):
In a derby of sorts in Mumbai, Dinda produced a forgettable spell where he was taken to the cleaners by an in-form Mumbai batting order which set a target of 183 in this crunch game. Dinda went for 60 runs and failed to pick up a wicket in his four overs and this remains his worst figures in a game of T20.
