2015 was an amazing year for few batsmen scored many runs in the test format which is the toughest form of cricket. In test matches the batsmen need to have technique, patience and temperament to survive in any conditions around the world.  They succeeded on the toughest pitches and played some excellent knocks for the countries. Here we look at the top 5 run scorer in test matches in 2015.

  1.        Steve Smith

Steve Smith a top quality number 3 batsmen is the highest run getter in test matches this year. He had a great year in test matches. He played 13 test matches and scored 1404 runs. He averaged 70.20 with a best score of 215 not out against West Indies. He played in 23 innings and looked the most complete batsmen for Australia. This young batsmen from Australia scored 6 centuries and four half centuries. Steve Smith has the hunger to score big runs and has been a prolific runs scorer for Australia this season.  He makes the batting look easy and adapts to the conditions easily.

  1.        Alistar Cook

Alistar Cook the captain of the England team has been excellent form in the year 2015. He played 14 test matches and scored 1357 runs. He averaged 56.54 with a best score of 263 in the first test match against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. He played in 25 innings and played some expectional knocks for England which led to the team success. Cook scored 3 centuries and 8 half centuries. He has technique, patience and temperament to play long innings in tough conditions. His ability to stay focused for a long time makes him a special player.  

  1.        David Warner

David Warner an explosive opener from Australia had a brilliant year in test matches. He played 13 test matches and scored 1315 runs. He averaged 57.17 with best of 253 against New Zealand in the second test match at Perth. He played in 23 innings and gave Australia aggressive start for the team that gave enough time for Australian bowlers to bowl out the opponent team out twice. He scored 4 centuries and 7 half centuries. His ability to put pressure on the opposition bowlers right from word go makes him a dangerous batsmen and always looks to score runs. 

  1.        Joe Root

Joe Root a brilliant player from England scored lots of runs in 2015 especially in test matches.  He played 14 matches and scored 1312 runs. He averaged 59.64 with the best score of 182 not out. He played in 25 innings and played excellent knocks for England coming at number 4. His ability to rotate the strike and play strokes with freedom makes him top quality batsmen. He scored 3 centuries and 9 half centuries. His ability to play fast bowlers and spinners with ease really gives England a great confidence to get huge scores.

  1.        Kane Williamson

Kane Willamson is the fifth highest run getter in test matches this year. He played only 8 test matches and scored 1172 runs. In terms of averages , Willamson had a great year scoring an outstanding 90.15 which shows the consistency of the batsmen. His highest score this year was 242 not out. He scored 5 centuries and 4 half centuries. He comes at number 3 for New Zealand and played some brilliant knocks. In the recently concluded test series against Sri Lanka he scored a match winning century chasing 184 as New Zealand was struggling at one stage. He has the technique to survive on tough conditions.
