Top Five Players to Watch Out For in the 2015 World Cup

The 2015 World Cup is approaching and all the teams have started their preparations for the extravaganza. The tournament promises a lot of fireworks from few players who would set the stage on fire. Here are the top five players to watch out for and who are capable of setting the World Cup on fire.

Virat Kohli

India’s Virat Kohli is not in best of form at the moment. But, he has the ability to roar back to his best in a matter of time. Virat Kohli will be carrying the hopes of Indians when the team goes into defend their World Cup crown. He has a good record in Australia and New Zealand and would like to continue his good run down under. Kohli will be desperate to carry his team all the way to the title and prove a point to those who mocked him during his pale patch in England.

AB de Villiers

AB de Villiers is all about consistency when it comes to batting. De Villiers will lead South Africa into the World Cup. Apart from leading his side, he is the side’s best batsman and finisher. He has done it in the past for South Africa and will look to repeat his heroics in the cricket carnival as well. De Villiers will be itching to strike out the Chokers Tag that is set to the South African team for their ability to choke in big tournaments. AB de Villiers at his best with the bat will shut the shutters on other teams during the World Cup.

Mitchell Johnson

Aussie pacer Mitchell Johnson is on a destruction over the past one year and will lead the Aussie challenge in the World Cup that takes place in their own back yard early next year. Since his return to International cricket last year, Johnson has left no stones unturned and answered his critics in the best possible way he could. He is showing no respite for the batsmen as he bowls at 150 kmph consistently with ease and troubles the batsmen with his bouncers and Yorkers. If you are a batsmen, you are going to have a tough time in the World Cup facing Johnson.

Glenn Maxwell

If Mitchell Johnson is on fire with the ball, Glenn Maxwell is on a rampage with the bat. Big Show, as he is known in his country is one of the most exciting players to watch out for in the 2015 World Cup. He is in terrific form in the build up to the World Cup and will hope to continue it in the carnival as well. He is very deadly especially in the last fifteen overs of the innings and scores runs very quickly and put the opposition on the backfoot in a matter of balls. He reverse sweeps both spinners and pacers with ease and has ability to score runs anywhere in the field just like de Villiers.

Mahela Jayawardene

Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene, who recently retired from Test matches to keep himself ready for the 2015 World Cup will don the Lankan colours for the last time on the tournament along with his fellow teammates Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan. Jayawardene would like to leave the sport on a high by winning the World as he did in the 2014 World T20. This is the last chance for Mahela and Sanga to keep their hands on the World Cup. Mahela will look to lead from the front and let the Lankans win the most coveted trophy.
