Trinbago Knight Riders Replaces Brad Hogg With Mehedi Hasan

Trinbago Knight Riders sign Mehedi Hasan as a replacement for Brad Hogg for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League.

The 19-year old spin prodigy has been turning heads with his exploits on the cricket field. After leading the Bangladesh Under-19 team to the semifinal in the World Cup last year, the tweaker made a sensational debut in the white flannels against England.

With 19 wickets in just two matches, he was the highest wicket-taker during the series, as Bangladesh registered a historic win in the last Test against their fancied opponents to level the series 1-1. He recently made his ODI and T20 debuts during the recent tour of Sri Lanka.

Expressing his delight over the new opportunity, he said:

“I am really happy to have got this opportunity. I will get to play with really good cricketers in that tournament. It will improve my standard of cricket.”

Hasan has now joined his illustrious teammates Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal to play in the league. Tamim has played only the inaugural season in 2013, while Shakib has played two seasons so far and is set to feature for Jamaica Tallawahs in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Hogg’s absence from the upcoming season is linked with the controversy that took place CPL draft last month. Trinbago Knight Riders had picked the former Australia international for their USD 4000 bracket, even as the chinaman bowler had a reserve price of USD 70,000.

The technical committee of the league had later confirmed it would investigate the matter.
