Indian bowler Ishant Sharma and Mitchell marsh gave Pune Super Giants a rollicking start as Sharma took the Lendl Simmons and Rohit Sharma while Mitchell Marsh took the wicket of Hardik Pandya and Jose Buttler. Rajat Bhatia later chipped in and took the wicket of Pollard. Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin was not given the ball till 14th over of the match. Murugan Ashwin, who was the shocking buy of Pune took a wicket of Shreyas Gopal.

Mumbai have a notorious start as they lost their top half for 51 runs. Ishant Sharma gave Rising Pune Super Giants early breakthrough picking up two early wickets.Only three batsmen scored the double digits-Ambati Rayudu (22), Vinay Kumar (12), Harbhajan Singh (45), the highest scorer for Mumbai.
