Twitter Reacts After Usman Shinwari Rattles Sri Lanka With a Sensational Spell

Pakistan left-arm seamer Usman Khan Shinwari was at his imperious best as the newcomer to international cricket bowled a sensational spell in the 5th and the final ODI against Sri Lanka to finish with figures of 5/34. It was a magnificent performance by the pacer who was playing in only his 2nd ODI.

The youngster bagged his first four wickets in his first two overs which had the Sri Lankans reeling at 20/5. He bowled a sensational spell of 20 deliveries and then came back to bag his 5th. It was Sri Lanka’s last pair of Vishwa Fernando and Dusmantha Chameera that propelled the Sri Lankans to a score of over 100.

Usman was on a hat-trick in his opening over itself after bagging the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dinesh Chandimal of successive deliveries. While Samarawickrama was castled for his 2nd nought of the series, Chandimal went for a flashing drive but only to edge it back to the keeper.

Upul Tharanga won the toss and opted to bat the next man in to face the hat-trick delivery of Shinwari. The southpaw drove it comfortably but was soon removed by the same bowler of a delivery which nipped back sharply to Tharanga.

Shinwari’s next wicket was that of wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella when was trapped in front by an incoming delivery from the left-arm pacer. The umpire had no hesitation in his mind and ruled it in favour of the bowling team. Milinda Siriwardana was the next man to head back to the pavilion as he holed out at the covers after playing yet another lose shot. This has been the story of Sri Lanka who is heading towards a 5-0 whitewash yet again.

Sri Lanka was eventually bowled out for 103. Pakistan has started off the chase fluently, and without losing any wicket, they are just 30 runs away from reaching the target. While Imam-ul-Haq is batting on 27, Fakhar Zaman is unbeaten on 45.
