India A and India U19 coach – Rahul Dravid’s experiment to play a young team at the U19 Asia Cup did not work well as defeats against Nepal, and Bangladesh saw the Indian team get knocked out of the tournament in the group stage.

The Himanshu Rana-led side went in as defending champions but this time, they came back empty handed. One of the major reasons for the failure was that some players, who have done well at this level, were released to play in the Ranji Trophy.

Surely, Dravid had an eye on future of these players as they have a real chance of making it to the national side; many of them have also made it to the second string India side, but their non-availability meant India lose out the Asia Cup trophy.
