The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has declared the 15 man team that will represent the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the International Cricket Council World Cup 2015. The 43 years old cricketer Mohammad Tauqir has been named skipper instead of Khurram Khan. Khurram Khan was the skipper of United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the last home series against Afghanistan. Mohammad Tauqir is a citizen of UAE and has been named captain, as the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) feels it needs to help encourage the sport in the local population. The ECB sees Tauqir’s appointment as a great opportunity to promote and showcase Emirati leadership and playing skills on the international sporting stage, and at the same time aims to raise the profile of the sport within the Emirati community. The decision also intends to highlight that indigenous players are integral to the future sustainability of the sport.”

The team declared has Khurram Khan, Saqlain Haider, Swapnil Patil, and Krishna Karate among others. United Arab Emirates (UAE) are planted in the Pool B alongside India, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe, and Ireland.
