People tend to fall short of dynamic superlatives when asked to describe a person called MS Dhoni. The Indian limited overs captain has been a blessing to the team ever since he made his debut and has pretty much revolutionized the way in which ODI cricket is played. When one talks about the charisma of Dhoni, bringing in statistics is almost inevitable.

Statistically, Dhoni is the third most successful ODI captain of all time, and the most successful non-Australian skipper. Under his astute and calm leadership, the men in blue have emerged as the reckoning forces in the shorter formats and continue to assert their dominance in every outing. Dhoni’s trophy cabinet for India is well occupied as he is the only skipper in the history of the game to win all ICC trophies.

But there is something surely more than just trophies associated with the panache of Dhoni. It is the way in which he operates and goes about his task. Even when the situation is far from ideal, Dhoni exhibits a rare display of calmness as if to make it clear that everything is well under control. It is often such a quality which makes fans believe in the heroics of Dhoni.

Dhoni’s greatest achievement till date would be the 2011 ICC World Cup victory, when thanks to his composed knock; the men in blue were crowned champions after 28 years. On that eventful night as well, the Jharkhand marauder remained calm and played one of the greatest knocks in the game.

As he celebrates his 35th birthday, we wish him from the bottom of our hearts and hope that he guides India to glory in the 2019 World Cup. Below, is a small video, just depicting the undying brilliance of a legend called MS Dhoni.
