Robin Uthappa, who made a comeback to the Indian ODI team, said that he was not sure where exactly in the batting order he will be sent but hinted that the opening slot will suits him the best.
The 29-year old Karnataka batsmen have been in and out of the team after his debut back in 2006. He has worked a lot on his batting technique, improved himself to a great extent and scored loads of runs in the domestic circuit. Uthappa has also transformed himself in to a wicket keeper and has keeping regularly for his IPL side Kolkata Knight Riders and is a top contender for wicket keeping in the upcoming Zimbabwe tour. Uthappa last featured in the series against Sri Lanka last year.
“Opening the batting comes extremely easily to me because that’s what I do in domestic cricket. I am not really sure what position I will be batting in this series. If it is up the order, it would just be about going out there and playing my natural game,” Uthappa was quoted as saying by BCCI.tv on Tuesday.
Ajinkya Rahane, on Monday was named captain of the 15-member side as Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli, among other seniors, were rested. India will play three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals against Zimbabwe. The first ODI is scheduled for July 10.
