Andre Russell has started the first day of the new year 2016 with an absolutely stunning catch. He has taken a stunner during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes in Bellerive Oval, Hobart today.

Russell has been playing for Sydney Thunders. Captain Michael Hussey winning the toss chose to field first. Hussey’s decision was right as his bowlers did not let Hurricanes batsmen to play at their best.

Clint Mckay has taken three wickets. The Aussie pacer grabbed the wickets of openers Tim Paine, Ben Dunk and Kumar Sangakkara.

As the top order failed to fire, Hurricanes’ innings did not take off perfectly. A partnership was needed for a big innings. Dane Christian joined George Bailey. But, Andre Russell was in the new year mood. His flamboyant attitude on the field was present during the match. Christan tried to clean the ball through the cover region, but Russel jumped on the left side and grabbed the catch. Christian got out after scoring just 5.

However, a 58 run partnership between Bailey and Jonathan Wells salvaged Hurricanes innings.
