While his team lost the match and series, but Sri Lankan batsman Danushka Gunathilaka had a memorable game on a personal front.

After scoring his third one-day fifty – the left-hander scoring 62 from 64 deliveries, he claimed a magnificent one-handed catch diving to his right at backward point to dismiss Eoin Morgan.

Suranga Lakmal was bowling the 30th over. Bowling the last delivery of that over, Lakmal bowled a short and wide delivery, asking for punishment. England skipper Eoin Morgan cut it as hard as he could. The ball was destined for a boundary only for Gunathilaka to fly horizontally and pouch it .

However, Gunathilaka’s stunning effort went in vain, as England defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match ODI series. Batting first Sri Lanka posted 305 for 5 with the help of half centuries by Dhanushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, who top-scored with 77, Dinesh Chandimal and Angelo Mathews. But England opener Jason Roy played a magnificent innings of 162 runs off just 118 balls to take his team home.
