This is a video of sledging incident between Glenn McGrath and Matthew Hayden in the finals of the Benson and Hedges World Series in 1993. Though, this series was earlier played between three International side, but Cricket Australia decided to include Australia ‘A’ this time. The other two teams were England and Zimbabwe, who were a lot lower than the standard of Australia. On paper , Australia ‘A’ seemed a better side than England as well.

Australia ‘A’ had several young players who were all set to make it into the main team. The likes of Micheal Bevan , Ricky Ponting, Damien Martyn and Matthew Hayden were some who went on to represent Australia.

Australia, though went on to win the match, but could manage to do it only on the last ball of the match, when Ian Healy scored the winning runs. This incident between Hayden and McGrath did gain a lot of popularity even back then.

Hayden later on said that he had hit McGrath’s arm by mistake to which McGrath replied by pushing him. Hayden, being junior didn’t reply anything after that. Though he admitted that the word ‘ F*** You’ was used by both of them
