The joy of registering your first ever double century in international cricket is undoubtedly among fascinating aspects of a batsman’s career. Indian heartthrob and world beater Virat Kohli notched up his maiden double ton in international cricket as he raced his way to 200 at Antigua. Resuming from his overnight score of 143, Kohli continued his good work as he was unflustered throughout and kept his calm.
On the stroke of lunch, Kohli got to his first ever double century in test cricket as he took a single of off-spinner Roston Chase. By the virtue of his knock, Kohli also became the first Indian captain to score a double ton outside the subcontinent. The Delhi dasher went past former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin as he now tops the list of scores by Indian captains outside the subcontinent.
Kohli’s brilliance though was cut short when he was dismissed sharply for 200 in the very first over after lunch. He chopped on to a delivery which stayed low outside the off stump to make his way back to the pavilion. Nevertheless, his fans throughout the globe would remember this epic knock for his utter brilliance.
The most satisfying aspect about Kohli’s masterpiece knock was the way in which he effortlessly went his way about. On a wicket where stroke making wasn’t all that easy, Kohli began from the word go with an array of awe-inspiring shots. Kohli’s cover drives and glances highlighted the complete splendor of his knock.
