In the year 2012 England, in a four-match series against India, won the series by 2-1 margin. England’s victory in a four-match Test series under the captaincy of Alastair Cook was massive as it had come after more than two decades.
England as a dominating force in the series defeated MS Dhoni’s India. The Test series defeat at the hand England at home ripped apart Indian team.
In the fourth Test of the series Indian captain, MS Dhoni was dismissed for 99 runs at Jamtha, Nagpur.
It was a disappointing scene of the match, as Indian captain has only six Test hundred to his name.
Dhoni pushed the ball to the mid off and ran for a single but he failed to reach the nonstriking end as the fielder uprooted the stumps.
The match was drawn. But India’s loss in the series didn’t leave Dhoni in a safe place as critics hammered him left, right and center.
India, since the 2011 World Cup victory, lost the 2011 series in England and Australia and then at home India lost to England.
Dhoni retired in 2015 after playing the 2014-2015 Australia series.
But under his captaincy, India defeated Australia 4-0 in 2013 as well.
Dhoni now is done with Test cricket and will lead India in New Zealand ODI series.
