Like the first ODI at Cuttack, it was the guile and brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja which broke a threatening partnership. Sam Billings and Jason Roy opened the innings for England in the third ODI at Eden Gardens, in the absence of regular opener Alex Hales and did more than a decent job in the middle.
The duo put on a stand of 98, before Jadeja got the better of Billings. The right-hander become Jadeja’s 150th ODI wicket and getting to the milestone is another feather in the cap for the ever reliable Jadeja. He got to the milestone in his 129th ODI and remains a huge asset for India’s ODI side.
On a pitch that remains exquisite for batting, Jadeja got India right back into the game with a couple of quick wickets. After the promising opening stand, the Saurashtra all-rounder snared Billings and Roy in quick succession to have England situated at an uncertain position.
This was the third instance when Jadeja got rid of Roy in the series, as, like Cuttack, he once again cleaned up the England opener. It can be fairly said that despite having a great series with the bat personally, Roy’s woes against Jadeja seem quite obvious.
Below is the video of Jadeja dismissing Roy for the third time in the series. Also in the video, one can see a jubilant Virat Kohli, literally laughing at Roy’s shot selection.
