Shahid Afridi slammed a reporter for questioning his captaincy record. After Shahid Afridi’s stern response to the reporter Pakistan sports journalists fraternity refused to cover Afridi’s press conference anymore.
Some sections of the media, thereafter, created a furore outside the dressing room in Gaddafi stadium demanding an apology from the Pakistani T20 captain for his rude behaviour. They, however, didn’t get any formal apology from the captain but were instead approached by the team manager, Intikhab Alam who claimed the group of journalists.
During the press conference, Afridi also gave an olive branch towards defamed cricketer Mohammed Amir, saying, “I backed Aamir because early on he came to me and admitted his mistake and apologised. Then, all these years he kept quiet and performed when he got a chance, so he deserved a second chance.”
Afridi has been vocal in criticizing two tainted Pkiatsn cricketer Salman Butt and Mohammed Asif and said that they should look at their own behaviour before disapproving the team on national television.
Amir has been selected for New Zealand series which will start on January 15.
Afridi has been retired all Test and ODI format but has been playing in twenty 20 cricket. He will lead Pakistan during the World T20 in India.
