Video: Steven Smith’s Jaw-Dropping Catch To Get Rid Of BJ Watling

Everything went perfectly for Steven Smith in the first One-Day International against New Zealand on Sunday as after scoring a career-best 164 to help his team score 324, the Australian skipper took a blinder of a catch to cap off a fine day.

In the 25th over of New Zealand’s innings, Mitchell Starc bowled one which was short and outside off. As expected, wicket-keeper-batsman BJ Watling cut it hard to the left of the backward point. The right-handed batsman failed to keep his shot grounded but nobody would have imagined that it would be caught. However, Smith left everyone shell-shocked when he flew across and held onto the ball with his wrong hand.

Meanwhile, Australia, who have lost the last two editions of the Chappell-Hadlee series, will be eyeing to win the series this time after winning the opener by 68 runs.

The second ODI will played on Tuesday at Canberra.
