The Indian batting starlet Virat Kohli poised in this IPL. He broke all the previous records and set a bar for the batsman. Now with 973 runs in 16 matches and four hundred his batting draws a comparison with the batting legend Sachin Tendulkar.
But Virat has already proved himself a distinct cricketer. He is prolific both in scoring and chasing. There is few cricketer who can match Kohli’s skill of chasing and scoring at the same time as a top order batsman.
He is great finisher too. He showed how to finish match coming at No. 3.
His rise in domestic cricket at the age of 16 when he had to play his one of memorable innings of hiss life to save the Delhi from a humiliating defeat at the hand of Karnataka.
Virat’s father Prem Kohli succumbed to cardiac attack. But the teenager showed great character with pain in his mind he played an innings which was cut short by a wrong decision of the umpire. His innings saved the match. As he got out opened the pad and marched to the funeral ceremony of his father.
Since then teenager Virat becomes a matured a cricketer and went on to win the ICC Under 19 World Cup in 2008. In 2009, just a year after his debut, he scored unbeaten 79 against West Indies to help India to defeat the later while chasing a low target but on a difficult target.
That was Virat’s first chase. Since then he chased down massive target one after another. His chased down colossal target opponents against Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia at home and abroad.
His prolific stroke play demoralizes opponents’ bowlers.
He helps India to win the 2011 World Cup, 2013 Champions Trophy, 2016 T20 series in Australia, Asia Cup T20 in Bangladesh. And was the leading run scorer in ICC World T20 2016 in India. His devastating form continued in the IPL where he made other batsman and bowlers to feel ashamed for his inhuman batting display. Everybody was whacked.
But still the unnecessary comparison by some people carve out a group of Virat haters who are ardent fans of the God of Indian cricket retired Sachin Tendulkar.
There is no need to draw any comparison between Sachin and Virat as they are players of two different eras. Virat is a star on its own. His deeds will make him a great star of his generation. Hi is genre is different.
