The South African opener Theunis De Bruyn and Hashim Amla were involved in a bizarre run-out on the fifth and final day of the Hamilton Test between South Africa and New Zealand. The incident happened on the fifth delivery of the 12th over when Hashim Amla played a shot towards mid-off and ran for a single. Bruyn was having his eyes on the ball and the moment he heard Amla calling for a run, he just ran without looking ahead.
As a result, they both collapsed and in the end, it was Bruyn who was out, as he was miles away from reaching the other end.
However, New Zealand quest to win the series was not fulfilled as persistent rain washed out the fifth and the final day at Seddon Park and the final game ended in a draw. With this draw, South Africa won and took away the Test series by a margin of 1-0, by virtue of winning the first Test at Dunedin.
