It was the unforgettable Thursday night at Holkar Stadium, Indore. Emotion pours down from all MS Dhoni fans across the world. Indian limited over captain MS Dhoni endured a lot of criticism for not being winning the match as a captain. But, he inked the face of his critics when he standing alone at the crease salvaged India’s fortune in the match. His unbeaten 92 runs innings comprised of 7 fours and 4 sixes shepherds India’s 247 for 9. He came into the crease when India lost his top half has gone for 102 runs. Opener Rohit Sharma was bowled in the second over of India’s innings by Kagiso Rabada. Shikhar Dhawan once again left his promising innings at a bay. Ajinkya Rahane played a 63 ball 51 run innings. But, he and Virat Kohli trapped in misunderstanding that resulted in Virat Kohli’s run out, who has been the worst performer of India in this year among the regular Indian batsmen. Suresh Raina is yet to back in his mojo. So, Dhoni has another day of struggle. But, he was determined to prove all those “who are standing with open swords want you to make a mistake as they can cut your head”.

His sensible innings got timely assistance from tail-enders especially from Harbhajan Singh and Axar Patel in the process.

Dhoni later in the innings refused to take single because India have only one wicket in hand. When Umesh Yadav, who recently hit a Ranji hundred, nicked Dale Steyn behind the wicket was caught by Quinton de Kock, MS Dhoni refused to take single instead he opted to play big shots. India had three over to complete their turn in the match. He hit a boundary in the fourth ball and  took single in the last ball of the over to avoid any risk in 48th over, but South African fielder tighten their hand to force Dhoni not to take any single in the last delivery of 49th over. Mohit Sharma defended the ball well.

Dhoni continued avoiding single in the death over as well. After five dot balls, Dhoni hit a massive six in the last ball to set a target of 248 for South Africa. A great and memorable finish from MS Dhoni. Notwithstanding, this innings of Dhoni will  be remembered as the one of best finish by MS Dhoni. It was not a daunting total for South Africa.
