The year 2003 has changed the experience of watching cricket among the young generations. India under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly marched into the final against Ricky Ponting’s indomitable Australia.

A billion of Indians were looking at the 11 men hoping that they will conquer the world. But their dream was shattered as Adam Gilchrist’s astounding 57 and Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn’s  destructive performance  demolished Indian team’s courage.

Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath who bowled outstandingly throughout the tournament suddenly lost their line and length.

Australia set a colossal total of 359  in 50 overs.

There was a feeling of fear that India would lose and another was for brave hearted people who still believed that  India is capable of winning the match.

Commencing the chase India lost Sachin Tendulkar in the very first over of the match. The entire India mourn as the hope of win buried by Glen McGrath.

Sourav Ganguly tried to rattle Australian bowling attack but missed Bret Lee’s back of the length delivery. Only Virender Sehwag played a knock that only fearless batsman like him can play. His knock of 82 runs still remembers as the best knock for the 1990s born kid, though Gautam Gambhir and Dhoni played at 97 and 93 runs knocks in the World Cup.

So, after this heart broken 125 run loss to Australia came to India to play tri-series along with their Down Under opponent New Zealand in India.

The TVS Tri-Series India defeated Australia in the first match under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid.

Australia was touring India without their best bowling weapons.

But hungry India was anyhow wanted to beat Australia. At home in Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore Australia scored 282 batting first.
