South Africa have bounced back in the match as Simon Harmer and Imran Tahir have taken 4 wickets each to decimated India’s second innings for 200, which is 1 run less than the first innings total 201.
South Africa will have to chase 218 runs to win the match. They have two and half day time to chase this target.
But, India have a spin trio – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Amit Mishra, who bamboozled South Africa in 184 in the first innings that helped India to give a 17 runs first innings lead.
Meanwhile, when India were struggling to figure out a clue of the South African spin duo – Harmer and Tahir wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha had once cheated South Africa on the way to his 20 run contribution to India second innings total. He nicked Imran Tahir to short leg fielder Temba Bavuma. But, he refused to leave the crease. Tahir’s appeal for catch out has gone in vain as umpire Richard Kettleborough said, “not out”.
In the morning, India started the day 125 for 1 lost the wicket of Virat Kohli in 56 over. Everything was in India’s favour until Pujara were at the crease. Since Kohli and Pujara were dismissed by Stiaan Van Zyl and Tahir respectively. India’s last 6 wickets – middle order and tails- collapsed inside 36 runs.
