It’s a big disappointment for Panchal, as the Gujarat opener earned an A side recall riding on his performance in the Ranji Trophy. He emerged out as the highest run-scorer in the tournament, as he scored 1310 runs.
Vijay Shankar is the third replacement who has been named to the team. Earlier, Abhinav Mukund – who was called in the Indian team – was replaced by R Samarth. Later, Krishnappa Gowtham was called into the side in place of Jayant Yadav and now Shankar is the third replacement named for the two unofficial Test matches.
At present, Indian team is playing a tri-series in the country and the Manish Pandey led side will face South Africa A in the finals of the tournament on August 8. Both the sides won three games each in the group stage.
