Virat Kohli on 11th December became the 4th Indian captain to score a 100 on captaincy debut. He achieved this feat against Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide. 

Three other Indians who scored 100 in their first Test as captain are Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar. 

This was also Virat Kohli’s second Test century at Adelaide. The first one came during India’s disastrous Australian tour in 2011-12.  Kohli also became the first Indian captain in a span of 11 years to score a century in Australia. The last one was scored by Sourav Ganguly at Brisbane in 2002-03.
