Indian batsman Virat Kohli broke into the top-20 of ICC Test rankings and is currently at 16th with 704 rating points after his back-to-back hundreds in the first Test against Australia in Adelaide. Kohli is just four rating points short of South Africa’s Faf du Plessis and trails while 14-ranked New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum by 14 ratings points ahead. 

Among the Indian bowlers, Ishant Sharma fell out of the top-20 and is now placed 21st after going down a couple of spots. None of the Indian bowlers are in the top 20 of the ICC’s Test rankings.

Australia’s David Warner and Steven Smith have achieved their career-best rankings in the latest list following breath-taking performances in the first Test. Warner, who scored a twin century at Adelaide is fourth in the ICC Test batsmen’s list with 880 points and his teammate who scored unbeaten 162 and 50 against India is eighth in the list with 791 points. Aussie pacers Mitchell Johnson and Ryan HArris stay at third and fourth position respectively.

India are ranked sisth in the latest ICC team rankings as they lead New Zealand by just 2 points and India will be pushed back to seventh if the lose the second Test against Australia.
