Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has hailed MS Dhoni’s decision of stepping down as limited-overs skipper as Virat Kohli is ready to lead India across all formats.
Former left-handed batsman Ganguly believes Kohli’s success in Tests will help him in leading the national side in white-ball cricket.
Ganguly has termed Kohli’s captaincy in Tests as commendable achievement after consecutive series wins against New Zealand and England at home.
“He is the right successor to Dhoni in One-day Internationals and T20Is. He will be equally fantastic, there’s no doubt about that,” Ganguly said.
On January 4, close to ten years as a captain, the flamboyant middle-order batsman Dhoni stepped down from the post which took his fans genuinely by surprise.
Ganguly was happy over Yuvraj Singh’s induction in limited-overs cricket and he confident to see him among runs.
Before getting married to Bollywood Diva Hazel Keech, Yuvraj Singh amassed 672 runs in five matches in 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season for Punjab.
“It’s a great thing Yuvraj has been included in both the formats. I’m confident he will get some runs and succeed,” Ganguly said on Yuvraj, who made comeback after 2016 Twenty20 World Cup.
