Virat Kohli Wants New Coach To Stay For Three Years

The India skipper Virat Kohli has delivered his opinion to BCCI regarding the appointment of a new coach.
Kohli has clearly stated that the new coach of the team should be handed a contract for a period of three years, rather than just one, as given to Kumble last year. This means the new coach or even Kumble in case, will stay with the team for World Cup 2019 and T20 World Cup 2020.
Meanwhile, the relation between Kohli and Kumble is getting bad to worse, as in the latest news it has been learnt that Kohli moved out of a net session as soon as Kumble entered the arena. A source close to team India continued to decline the matter just like Amitabh Chaudhary, BCCI’s acting secretary did on Thursday,
“Please understand that a lot of the talk of Kohli and Kumble not seeing eye to eye is hogwash. Who doesn’t have differences? What the team and the skipper want is a certain procedure to be in place. For instance, Virat is very particular that the new coach Kumble or anyone else is given a three-year contract and not one, as in the present case. The committee’s job is to select the right candidate. Now, here are the choices Anil, Viru, Tom, Pybus and another name (Rajput). Think about it, what choice do they have, considering Anil hasn’t failed at his job?“ a senior cricket administrator told TOI.
Meanwhile, the race to become the coach of the Indian team has become interesting with Virender Sehwag jumping in. In all possibilities, the former Delhi and Haryana batsman is expected to take over the reins due to the brewing tension between the current coach and captain.
In fact, it has been learnt that Kohli himself asked Sehwag to apply for the job, which clearly gives him an edge over others.
Lalchand Rajput, Dodda Ganesh, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus and Anil Kumble – the automatic entrant in the list – are the other competitors who will be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (COA) comprising of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman.
They will interview the handful of applicants for the job, unlike last year where a total of 57 applicants applied for the job.
The new coach is expected to be appointed after the conclusion of Champions Trophy.
