The Story
This Friday, the sporting world will witness Usain Bolt participate in his last major IAAF event. The supersonic sprinter has decided to pull down the curtains on his illustrious career after ruling the tracks like invincible.
Preparation is in full swing at the London Stadium, Some 50,000 fans from the venue and millions from around the world will be eagerly waiting to enjoy his class act one last time when Bolt, who turns 31 this month, would turn up to give his golden good bye after the end of the 100 metres event on Saturday.
India skipper Virat Kohli also marked the special occasion with a message to the field legend. He extended his good wishes to him through twitter.
In the video message, Kohli says, “Hey, Usain! I know it’s your last race we are going to miss you a lot on the track. From me and everyone in the Puma family, we wish you all the very best for this one and all your future endeavours. If you ever wanna play cricket you know where to find me.”
Kohli is a part of the sports brand Puma family which Usain Bolt also represents. The Jamaican, quite naturally, has been a self-proclaimed cricket fan. In fact, he stunningly revealed during one of his interviews that cricket was his first love and it a big part of his childhood before his schoolmates and sports coach identified the spring talent in him.
Bolt displayed his cricketing talent in one of the Puma events when he played against Yuvraj Singh in an exhibition match in 2014 during his maiden visit to India. After getting cheated by Yuvi in the sprint in an amusing manner, Bolt took revenge for the defeat with a 19-ball 45featuring five sixes in the friendly cricket match.
Going into the World Championships, Bolt has expressed confidence about adding another title to his already illustrious record of 8 world titles along with eight Olympic golds.
Doesn't matter if it's your last competitive race, you will always be #ForeverFastest on and off the track @usainbolt. @PumaCricket pic.twitter.com/9tLL8LT6e7
