Former Indian opener and batting legend Virender Sehwag has become the Twitter King in simply no time. His tweets and witty one liners have enthralled everyone completely, just like his batting in the past. Sehwag, is time and again witnessed tweeting birthday wishes to several cricketers and along with that, adds a couple of rib tickling lines.
It is a known fact that Sehwag, shares a special bond with his idol, and former opening partner Sachin Tendulkar. The two have had several match winning opening partnerships for India in the past and the relationship between them is the ideal instance of the bond between a teacher and a student.
On Twitter as well, Sehwag recently addressed Tendulkar as “Godji”. The Little Master, in his recent tweet, wished Sehwag a happy birthday, when the Nawab of Najafgarh turned a year older yesterday. In the tweet, Tendulkar mentioned, “He’s the sweetest man who has caused so much destruction! Happy Birthday, Lala!”
Quite a few individuals and fans of the duo, were confused as Tendulkar addressed Sehwag as “Lala”. Lala, it must be noted, is also the nickname of flamboyant Pakistan all rounder Shahid Afridi. Clearing the air, Sehwag revealed the reason behind this nickname.
“Thank you ‘Godji.’ You people must be wondering why ‘Godji’ calls me ‘Lala.’ It’s because I look like Lala first of all. Like the ‘fat baniyas’ or maybe because of my habit of keeping count of everything while batting. How many runs I made, how many boundaries and sixes I hit. Maybe that’s why he calls me Lala,” Sehwag mentioned.
